Anime Speedtune
3:00 pm - 4:00 pm

this won't be an ordinary Speedtune. This will be a 1-hour TEAM EDITION! Read on for the full details: With the retirement of Name That Tune at Anime North, Speedtune is being considered to replace it in its timeslot. However, the biggest issue is that there's simply too many people who wish to play. Currently, even with 30 game tickets for the 2.5h Sunday event, there are people who can't play. Moving Speedtune to Saturday in its current format would be inadvisable. NTT called up 25 players, and that definitely wasn't enough. Changing Speedtune to a 2-player team format doubles the player pool to 60. However, this is not a decision to be taken lightly. We're testing the waters at Anime Shogatsu first. TEAMS: - Teams are made up of 2 players. At Anime Shogatsu, there will be 12 teams for a total of 24 players. - At least one player in each team cannot have ever appeared in a Speedtune grand final. - If there are not enough players, solo Speedtune will be played. TEAM FORMAT: (This assumes you know already how Speedtune works.) - Teams in turn will have control of the board. - Once a topic is selected, each team must decide which player controls the buzzer. These are ACTIVE players. The other players are BENCH players. - Both players on a team must be active 3 times, and benched 3 times. Choose your positioning wisely! - While a tune is playing, only active players may buzz in. The bench sits away from the active players and may not provide them with the answer. - Bench players have a whiteboard in which they write down their guesses. - If timeout happens, all bench players immediately raise their whiteboards. Those with correct guesses will get the point value of the tune, plus any applicable bonuses (including control bonus). So if you're up and don't get the tune, your teammate still can! However, other teams may get points, too! - Speedtune is not a spelling contest. For the whiteboard, guesses in English script don't need correct spelling, but they must be phonetically correct. However, if you try to be cute and write in Japanese script, we'll only accept exact characters!
